me and my story

I love that my art can become a part of people’s every day; I purposely make jewellery that can be worn every day because that’s the kind of jewellery I wear.

Jewellery to me means as little as something pretty that you throw on, or something with much deeper meaning that has been passed down generations.

I love that jewellery can punctuate the significant events in our lives and be a tangible reminder of something important.

My Story

I grew up watching my dad in the shed, one of my earliest memories is of him making me a rocking horse from scratch. I was always drawing, painting and making things from a young age, which turned into large scale abstract portraiture in my late teens. I played around with melting some metal in the shed and remodelled some old sterling silver rings for friends in 2013. I then went and did some study and work and had art on the back burner for a few years.

In 2018 I did a 6 week short metal smithing course with a friend a few hours a week after work where we made a ring, and my love for metalwork grew from there.

The first jewellery I sold was sterling silver earrings, to friends. I feel lucky that I have amazing mates who supported my little biz really early on, and I loved seeing them wearing things that I had made by hand. My love of colour (and sparkle) saw me quickly look to Aussie opals to add colour and sparkle to my work, and they have stayed a huge part of my art ever since.

An ever evolving love of nature and nostalgia is forever driving my jewellery practice forwards. I first made my ‘rain cloud ring’, which is a little Japanese keshi pearl with gold rain drops, on a rainy day. I also make fish and jelly fish rings, and use star and moon motifs. I like the idea that a certain piece can evoke a pang of nostalgia for a certain rainy day or sunset at the beach.

Values

Slow fashion is something that is very important to me, and I feel proud to be producing ethically made pieces, with responsibly sourced stones and metals. The hand found gold I use has been taken from a tiny hole, with respect for the environment. The opals I use have been mined by small businesses and cut by amazing people I have first hand connections with, including my dad!

Being size inclusive with ring sizing is something I have always focused on, as I have had a lot of people tell me how tricky it is to find fine jewellery in an inclusive size range. My ‘finished in your size’ format means I can make rings to order in any ring size.

 The Collections

I update my website with what I have made each week at 2pm AWST (Perth time) every Sunday. Each collection varies depending on what I felt inspired to make that week.
